this website has got to be the most amazing website ever, well for a sewer who lovesModCloth anyway.

they take items of clothing from sites (like ModCloth) and find patterns that could be used as a good replica of the original and even suggest fabrics to use. Such an excellent idea, I think I’m in love.

My weekend of fabric cutting

So my weekend has consisted of fabric cutting, playing a game of monopoly, more fabric cutting, more fabric cutting, a day spent at work, watching Gulliver’s Travels (really not a Jack Black fan, but the kids liked it) and more fabric cutting. And I am still only halfway through the cutting process.

My back hurts, but legs hurt, my head hurts, but I am still really enjoying it lol.

I did make a mock up of the top, its a bit loose, but I think when I put in the interfacing and the lining that it will be quite a nice fit.

Tomorrow is another day off work, but I have to take my car in to be serviced before we go away on holidays. I am planning on getting the back of my hair trimmed (I am very worried about it turning into a mullet lol), and I might take some wool and sit in the park and knit. Hopefully the car doesn’t cost too much…

Ball gown – part 1

I was so excited to come home from work today to discover that the pattern for my ball gown has arrived. I buy most of my patterns from McCall’s website as it is alot cheaper then shopping at Spotlight, but shipping is $15 so I always chuck in some extra patterns to get my money’s worth.

Anyway here is a pic of the patterns I got, and the fabric that I am going to be using for the dress, and best thing is I have the next 2 days off work so I can get started on it YAY…

Chicken Nuggets with Loads of Noodles

Tonight was Shannon’s night to cook, he decided on “Chicken Nuggets with Loads of Noodles” which can be found in Kids Can Cook by Nicola Graimes. Which he has actually made before, but it is yummy so no one is complaining.Instead of putting the chicken onto skewers as the recipe says we decided to just cook them as is. They only end up being pulled off the skewers anyway, so we saved a step in the eating process.Shanny wanted to do an “eating” shot like from Rohan’s Piggies in Blankets Recipe, unfortunatly for him he is definatly not a posable child, he just looks wooden when he tried to pretend to do something. Next time I will just tell him to eat it and hope I get the shot in time (its really hard to get good photos as its getting dark so early now and the fluro light in the kitchen just doesn’t work with my camera).

The perfect kids bedroom

Do you ever have one of those moments when you see something and think “I wish I had have been able to do that when the kids were small”? I just had one of those when I saw this bedroom, it is so perfect, although I think it would be nice in a home library and keeping all the children’s books up there as a little reading nook.
