Weird Clouds

April 25, 2010

so this morning we were driving into town for the Anzac Day march, when Shannon pipes up with “That cloud is pink and green”. We thought he must have been looking through that tinted section of the windscreen and it just looked coloured, but as we turned a corner we all got a nice look at this cloud that had a weird pink and green/blue tint to it, it almost looked like the colour oil on water gets. I tried getting a photo but the car was going and the sun was making the photos dark, this is the best one I got. I lightened it a bit and have “circled” the cloud in question.

ooo, would love to know where you were and what direction you were facing, i’m thinking an unusually high proportion of similar molecules or something:)

we were near Lismore in Australia, and was facing east, the sun is just above the brightest spot in the photo which is why it was so hard to get it to show up.

Shannon thought it may have something to do with water in the cloud, similar to how a rainbow forms, and knowing the way the world works, an 8 year old is probably right lol.
