More about Squirtle

February 12, 2012

Here are a few more photos of Squirtle, and a bit more about him. He is a Macleay River Turtle, native to the Macleay River (duh) which is on the Mid North Coast of NSW.  His shell is about 5cm long, he is so tiny, when we set up his tank just after Christmas we put in some feeder fish with the idea that he would eat them, but it will be a while before he can as they are nearly half the size of him. He does like hassling the snails in the tank though.

We have a new member in our family, we got him last week and he is so adorable (but rather hard to take photos of).

Chocolate Truffles

February 11, 2012

Rohan and I tried making truffles this weekend, we used the free class over on Craftsy. They are the most delicious things in the whole world, and Garry has informed me that he is going to have to marry them because he loves them so much.

Make This Look

August 13, 2011

this website has got to be the most amazing website ever, well for a sewer who lovesModCloth anyway.

they take items of clothing from sites (like ModCloth) and find patterns that could be used as a good replica of the original and even suggest fabrics to use. Such an excellent idea, I think I’m in love.

Here are a few of my favourites.

Friday Night Music – The Hardest Part – Washington

My weekend of fabric cutting

June 19, 2011

So my weekend has consisted of fabric cutting, playing a game of monopoly, more fabric cutting, more fabric cutting, a day spent at work, watching Gulliver’s Travels (really not a Jack Black fan, but the kids liked it) and more fabric cutting. And I am still only halfway through the cutting process.

My back hurts, but legs hurt, my head hurts, but I am still really enjoying it lol.

I did make a mock up of the top, its a bit loose, but I think when I put in the interfacing and the lining that it will be quite a nice fit.

Tomorrow is another day off work, but I have to take my car in to be serviced before we go away on holidays. I am planning on getting the back of my hair trimmed (I am very worried about it turning into a mullet lol), and I might take some wool and sit in the park and knit. Hopefully the car doesn’t cost too much…

Ball gown – part 1

June 16, 2011

I was so excited to come home from work today to discover that the pattern for my ball gown has arrived. I buy most of my patterns from McCall’s website as it is alot cheaper then shopping at Spotlight, but shipping is $15 so I always chuck in some extra patterns to get my money’s worth.

Anyway here is a pic of the patterns I got, and the fabric that I am going to be using for the dress, and best thing is I have the next 2 days off work so I can get started on it YAY…
